In saying that, the summers are long and warm and the winters are short, cold, and windy; and it is wet and partly cloudy year-round. For cruise travellers, the best times of year to visit Galveston for warm-weather are from late March to mid-May and from mid-October to mid-November.
Transport in Galveston
You’re in luck if your cruise holiday stops in Galveston. This fun little island is small enough to explore on foot in places. The Strand itself is very walkable, and the beach area (in limited quantities) is also walkable. If you want to explore further, taxis are relatively inexpensive in Galveston.
There’s usually a high demand for taxis during busy debarkation hours at the Port of Galveston. At these times, taxis may not be readily available as they drop off passengers and return to the port.
