P&O - Pacific Explorer

Early reviews of the Pacific Explorer are promising, suggesting the ship will be a new favourite for Australian travellers. A vessel of intrepid developments for P&O, it's the first ship in the fleet capable of carrying 2,000 passengers and the first in the line to offer a waterpark at sea. It weighs more than 77,000 tonnes and offers 11 guest decks, each created with modern Australian design in mind. ... Read more

"Summer sojourn"

Just love this ship, staff are excellent, food was divine especially Dragon Lady and entertainment was great. Moreton Island was just beautiful and snorkelling the wrecks was a real hi light. So many fish species and clear water.

"South Pacific Cruise - 10 days"

I had a great time on the cruise , staff were very friendly and helpful starting from our room 10150 steward Danielle who was always there to help with a big smile no problem to big or small. he was always there could not speak more highly of him a perfect gentleman. to our waiters in the waterfront Jerome, Alex and Fatima on table 220 who were fantastic at there job always with a big smile when we entered the restaurant, very very good at there job once again could not speak more highly of them. I really cannot speak badly of any of the staff on board. My only disappointment was the treatment of a member of our group who was treated or lack of it after the ceiling outside her cabin 10159 collapsed hitting her on the head leaving her with a nasty bump on the back of her head and instead of treating her were more worried about filling in paperwork and who was paying for any medical treatment she would receive, spent less than half hour before being sent back to her room. not once over the next couple of days asking weather she was alright.Just found out today 22-02-2019 after an m.r.i scan that she was heavily concussed. So i think that you seriously should look at improving this department of your your ship before something like this could happen again. Thanking you Natale.

"Winter getaway"

Only 4 nights which wasn't enough. We loved this cruise, loved the ship and had an amazing time on the whale watching shore trip. Love the fit out of "Dora" and will definitely be back on board this beautiful ship

Sister ships Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden have received rave reviews, and the Pacific Explorer builds on the qualities of these P&O frontrunners. Watch this space for the latest passenger reviews of the Pacific Explorer.

The basics

The Pacific Explorer began life as the Dawn Princess in 1997, but a recent renovation and refurbishment has seen it start anew as the latest ship in the P&O Australian fleet. The move makes the Pacific Explorer the largest of the five ships at 260 metres in length (853 feet) with a capacity of 1,998 passengers and 924 crew members.

Sailing from Sydney, the Pacific Explorer will escort passengers to Oceanic destinations such as the Sunshine Coast, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and more.

Accommodation

Choose from interior, oceanview, or balcony cabins, or travel in a luxurious suite. For those travelling as a family or with a group of friends, there are numerous options for interconnecting cabins. All rooms enjoy basic services such as fresh towels, a pillow concierge and even yoga mats delivered to your room. For a small extra cost, staff will look after your laundry, iron your shirts and deliver food and beverages to your cabin. If you are staying in a suite, the breakfast service is included in your fare, as are a number of extra amenities.

Entertainment

P&O Cruises was rated as the most family-friendly cruise line in Australia in 2016, and the range of entertainment options onboard strongly reflect the brand's commitment to this all-ages approach.

  • The waterpark with two waterslides will get top reviews from the young and young-at-heart, as will the new bowling green.
  • The Oasis area is an idyllic adults-only retreat - relax in the spa with a massage or therapeutic treatment.
  • Nightly entertainment can be found all over the ship. Guests enjoy the Blue Room, the cabaret-style Black Circus, and the nightly shows in the Marquee Theatre. There's also a hidden bar for a bit of added mystery and fun.

Dining

The Pacific Explorer offers 12 restaurants where dining is included in your fare, as well as a handful of specialty dining options that are worth the small extra spend. Taste the world with the range of dishes in The Pantry, or opt for something a little special such as the Salt Grill by Luke Mangan.
