Prinsendam Overview

Holland America's Prinsendam cruise ship is a far cry from the mega-ships so popular these days, instead providing a more boutique experience and a personal, intimate atmosphere as she cruises to faraway places.

Specs: Prinsendam at a glance
The Prinsendam carries a maximum of 835 passengers, comes to 669 feet in length and weighs 37,983 tonnes. Her top speed is 22 knots.

Accommodation: Prinsendam rooms and suites
While Prinsendam rooms aren't known for being the largest in the fleet, even the cosiest of cabins will put you at ease. Many of them have generously sized bathrooms with full length tubs; walk in closets are also common across the ship, ensuring that passengers have enough space to feel at home. Of course if you decide to splurge on a Prinsendam suite, there's far more to get excited about than just ample storage space. Neptune suite cruisers can enjoy a private verandah, floor to ceiling windows, access to the exclusive Neptune Lounge, priority dining and seating requests and much more.

Entertainment: things to do on board the Prinsendam
There's plenty to keep you entertained aboard the Prinsendam.

Just a few highlights from the Prinsendam entertainment line up:
  • Try your luck in the Casino - live a little!
  • Foodie alert: take a cooking class or attend a tasting event
  • Enrich your mind with fascinating lectures on the environment, history, sociology and more
  • Catch a live show or a classical concert - arts and culture thrive on the Prinsendam

Food: Prinsendam restaurants
Good food is an essential part of any holiday, and Prinsendam food certainly doesn't disappoint.

Here are a few Prinsendam dining choices included in your fare:
  • La Fontaine Dining Room: choose set seating or dine in your own time
  • The Lido: casual, no fuss dining
  • Terrace Grill: burgers, hotdogs and sandwiches for you to grab and go

Specialty restaurants (not included in the fare):
  • Pinnacle Grill: top notch northwestern cuisine - salmon and steak ahoy!
  • Le Cirque: a tastefully whimsical dining experience

Destinations: Prinsendam itineraries
A Prinsendam itinerary could take you on an idyllic voyage around the Mediterranean, an Arctic Circle adventure, or even a journey into the heart of the Amazon - Prinsendam sailings will often take you to places that mega ships couldn't even dream of going.

Things to remember: On board the Prinsendam
A couple things to remember when you're getting ready for a cruise on the Prinsendam:
  • Expect a handful of formal nights on any given Prinsendam cruise - this can mean anything from a dark suit or white dinner jacket for men and an elegant ball gown or cocktail dress for women. Shorts and sleeveless tees are not acceptable in the dining rooms.
  • While there is technically an activity program onboard for kids, this isn't a ship that really caters for families.
  • A $11.50 gratuity is added automatically to your onboard account each day - the amount can be adjusted at the front desk. The official onboard currency is the US dollar.

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!
