How suite it is: Here are the most luxurious cruise ship suites on the sea

Suite accommodations on cruise ships range from a few extra features and services, to outrageously lavish penthouse-style digs for those prepared to pay top dollar to live the high life..

We’re going to take a look at some of the most decadent, pampered experiences you can find out on the ocean waves.

Around the world in style

The Regent Suite may just be the most luxurious cruise suite ever created.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises - Regent Suite

Furnished with spacious walk-in wardrobes, European sized king-beds, a personalised full-liquor bar, and an ever-ready butler, the Regent Suite is 3026 square feet of luxurious comfort. Relax in the spa with a glass of bubbly, or spend the evening out on the wraparound balcony. Starting at USD$5,000 per person per night, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Oceania Cruises - The Owner’s Suite

The Owner's Suite is Oceania Cruises’ top-of-the-range suite, with nearly 1,000 square feet of stunning accommodation and a view to die for. With a complimentary in-suite bar, 24/7 butler service, and free unlimited WiFi, you’ll never want to leave your room. What will this incredible suite set you back? USD$1,700 per person, per night.

A garden, a spa pool and three bedrooms? NCL has you covered with the Haven Garden Villas.

Norwegian Cruise Line - Haven 3-Bedroom Garden Villas

Planning a holiday with friends? Complete with 3 separate bedrooms, the Haven Garden Villas have butler and concierge services available, as well as a private garden with hot tub. The Garden Villas begin at USD$1,200 per person per night and are well worth splashing out for.

P&O Cruises - Penthouse

On board P&O CruisesPacific Aria and Pacific Eden, the Penthouse suite draws you in with its luxurious decor and spacious living areas. Soak in your own spa bath, have a drink or two on the private balcony, and enjoy priority bookings for onshore tours. P&O Cruises call it ‘affordable luxury’ at AUD$1399 per person per night.

Royal Caribbean may be known for their family-friendly offerings, but they also cater to those with a taste for the finer things with their Royal Loft Suites.

Royal Caribbean Cruises - Royal Loft Suites

At 1,599 square feet, plus a huge balcony with whirlpool, the Royal Loft Suites match the rest of the modern grandeur onboard Quantum of the Seas. Two stories of stunning accommodation with jaw-dropping views, this suite can comfortably host 6 passengers, with spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, expansive dining and BBQ areas, huge closets and more. Starting at AUD$1,224 per person per night, the Royal Loft Suites offer a private heaven on the ocean waves.

Seabourn Cruises - Penthouse Spa Suite

With your own personal Suite Stewardess, you’ll be welcomed aboard the Seabourn Encore into a world of inspired luxury. Enjoy complimentary champagne on your own personal balcony and then soak in the dreamlike spa bath. Lay down in pampered bliss in the Penthouse Spa Suite and sail off into the sunset. This stunning suite starts at AUD$1,500 per person per night.

The future of suite cruising

The cruise ship industry is booming, and with more people getting on board every year it makes sense that companies are upping the ante to provide ever more luxurious experiences.

  • In the autumn of 2018, Celebrity Cruises are launching Celebrity Edge, a ship with two new suite classes: the Iconic Suite, which measures 5,000-square feet, and the double-storey Edge Villa suite.
  • Crystal Cruises also intends to upgrade its suite offerings on the Symphony and the Serenity in the next two years, increasing the number of penthouse suites and refreshing all others. More details to come.
