Unforgettable Princess journeys

A Princess cruise is a journey to somewhere fresh, no matter the destination. Each of their beautiful ships is an escape in itself, and when you pair that with the fabulous itineraries on offer from right here in Australia, well, it's no wonder their slogan is "Come Back New."

The peak season for cruises from Australia is coming up, and the full complement of seasonal and permanent Australia-based ships will be in place - the Dawn Princess, Diamond Princess and Emerald Princess cruising primarily from Sydney, the Golden Princess from Melbourne, the Sea Princess from Brisbane and Sun Princess splitting time between Brisbane and Fremantle. Now's the time to start thinking about your next Princess voyage, be it over the summer or as the colder weather returns in March, April and May. Why not make it a big one?

Pick your next journey

Sunny summertime jaunts across the ditch to New Zealand are a favourite itinerary for Princess cruisers, and we can see why. The blend of stunning scenery and cosmopolitan cities fits well with the elegant Princess atmosphere, and at 10-15 nights, the New Zealand roundtrips from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are a great length of time for a getaway. South Pacific itineraries of various lengths are also popular - but if you're a Princess fan, or even just a seasoned cruiser, you've probably done one or both of these before.

For something a little out of the ordinary, we have found some envy-inducing Princess journeys you might like to try for your next adventure. Here are some ideas for cruises that will take you away - both as soon as you step on the chic and innovative ship and again as you step off it into a fabulous new city or country.

Sights and sounds of Asia
Princess Cruises do Asia well - they base ships there at certain times of the year and have started to unlock this fabulous part of the world in ways that no other mainstream cruise lines have.

There are plenty of Princess cruises departing Australia and heading north to places like Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and beyond. Even Western Australia can get in on the fun, with Princess offering roundtrips to Indonesia from Fremantle. Look out for the China and Japan Cruise, Asia and Australia Grand Adventure, Australia and Asia Cruise and a few more fabulous itineraries offered by the Aussie Princess fleet.

What might you see during such oriental journeys? The possibilities are exciting and neverending. Tropical beaches, vast local markets, busy and vibrant ports, unimaginably modern cities, ancient temples, snow-topped mountains and the constant stream of colour, life, scents and flavours which characterise the continent of Asia.

Extended South Pacific
New Caledonia and Vanuatu are wonderful cruise destinations, but if this isn't your first rodeo, chances are it's not your first time calling in to these Melanesian beauties. For your next Princess getaway, why not look beyond to the rest of the Pacific?

The Princess fleet can offer lengthy itineraries taking in New Caledonia, Fiji, Tahiti and Hawaii, with both round-trips from Sydney and one-way repositioning journeys as they head to North America to embark on the summer season there. Look out for the Hawaii, Tahiti and South Pacific Cruises and start dreaming of conquering the world's biggest ocean in style.

A noble voyage like these ones means quite a few days at sea, but Princess ships are chock full of things to do. Get in some lazy hours by the pool, enjoy the library, keep fit with the gym and sports facilities, indulge in a spa treatment or two, join in some organised fun, extend your mind with Scholarship@Sea and dine like royalty in the many elegant onboard restaurants, and you'll be at your next port before you know it. It might be an idyllic white-sand beach, a slow-paced tropical town, a ruggedly scenic island or an exciting Pacific city. Whatever the destination, it will certainly be fabulous. We hear Bora Bora is to die for!

Around Australia
You can get in an epic Princess voyage without straying far from the Australian coast. There's nothing quite like our very own big, beautiful, diverse nation to interest any holidaymaker. Is it an island or a continent? The mystery remains, but a Princess Australia cruise might help to clear it up.

If you want to get better acquainted with Australia, take a look at Princess' Round Australia Cruise, Round Australia and New Zealand Cruise and Northern Australia Explorer Cruises. A full circumnavigation of Australia is definitely something to tick off the bucket list - and we think it's a great way to spend a month if you have one going spare! The Northern Explorer is a little shorter and easier to fit into a schedule, taking in the scorchingly warm Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia with a stop at Bali along the way.

Australia may not seem as exotic as some other cruise destinations, but seeing it from an oceangoing perspective might open your eyes to the delights of the Land Down Under. Golden beaches, rainforests, fascinating wildlife, wine regions, big cities and much more make for a diverse and unforgettable cruise - and you'll come back having fallen in love with your own part of the world.

Chocolate Journeys
Just as you do with the tastiest morsel of a chocolatey dessert, we have saved the best for last. This one's not a physical destination but a culinary one, and it's available from the moment you step onboard.

Master Chocolatier Norman Love has designed a collection of chocolate treats just for Princess, allowing them to take each passenger on a taste journey in various restaurants and venues around the ship. Originally launched on the Regal Princess in 2014, Chocolate Journeys are now on all Princess ships, so keep a lookout for these sumptuous treats on all kinds of menus.

Sable Breton with Cream and White Chocolate Bavarian

Or perhaps a Sable Breton with Cream and White Chocolate Bavarian?

Where can you get your hands on some of this cocoa goodness? Start in the main dining room, where you will find Love's delicious and artful creations on select menus. Tarts, mousses, cakes and more -  there's something for every chocoholic. You might also encounter a stage in the chocolate journey during the Captain's Cocktail Reception where chocolate love pops are served, or enjoy a wine and chocolate pairing at Vines wine bar. The bars feature a menu of chocolate drinks like chocolate chili margaritas and a special chocolate bacon bourbon creation. Even the spa is part of the experience, offering chocolate treatments.

Book yourself a true escape and get onboard a Princess cruise journey in 2015 or 2016!

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!

Would like more choices from Brisbane, as Sydneyis unsuitable for many customers, including me.
