It’s often available around-the-clock, meaning 24-hour temptation. If you indulge in those poolside snacks and cocktails day in and day out, you might leave your cruise feeling a bit more sluggish than you’d like. Luckily, there are plenty of ways you can savour some tasty delights but keep yourself feeling great throughout your cruise, whether you’re cruising Australia, Europe or the South Pacific.
Get moving onboard
While cruises are great for lounging poolside, don’t forget there are plenty of other activities you can crack into to keep your body moving.
Most cruise ships have recreation centres and gyms where you can sweat it out on your favourite machines and keep up your fitness regimen. Many also offer popular classes including yoga, pilates, boxing or boot camp - who knows, you might discover a new favourite form of exercise.

It’s a common myth that you have to put on weight while you cruise. While your ship will have an array of tempting dining options, you can enjoy them guilt-free by keeping just a few tricks in mind. Set some guidelines for yourself at the beginning of your cruise so you have some boundaries from day one. It’s all about balance - if you love to indulge in a big breakfast, even things out with a lighter lunch. Hydration is also essential to feeling your best - sip on water throughout the day and make sure you alternate any alcoholic or sugary beverages with some glasses of H2O. This way, you can still have treats without going ‘overboard’!
You will also have plenty of nutritious options to choose from for all your meals, so it’s easy to opt for something leaner and energy and nutrient-rich when you need to balance out a heavier meal. Think fresh fruit and vegetables, salads, wraps, soups, lean proteins and omelettes to give you that healthy glow.
Make the most of the amazing port destinations you’re visiting by disembarking and choosing active shore excursions. Some great options are:
