Asia Cruises: The Largest Continent

Asia is a varied and exciting continent, with coastline which ranges from the cosmopolitan port cities of Japan in the north to the beaches and villages of Indonesia in the south, and the overwhelming sights, sounds and smells of India to the west. There is so much to see in this wonderful continent, and so many options for Asia cruises!

Asia Cruise Destinations

  • Southeast Asia is an up-and-coming cruising ground, with some bustling and lively cities and beautiful beaches, islands and resorts. The island of Bali in Indonesia is a favourite, a well-developed tourist resort with plenty of beaches, restaurants, shopping and activities. Other top destinations in the region are the impossibly beautiful islands of Thailand and the culture-rich big cities which include Bangkok, Jakarta and the fabulous world city, Singapore. There are plenty of cruise deals to be found for southeast Asia.

  • The area once known as French Indochina and the Philippines are not so developed for tourism as some other areas of Asia, but can offer great experiences, cultures, food and fun to visiting cruise passengers. Vietnamese cities Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are both a fascinating blend of eastern and western influences, with remaining French touches. In the Philippines, the main port of call is bustling Manila, and smaller cruise lines call in at the island resorts of Cebu, Boracay and Bohol. Some great luxury all-inclusive cruises take place here.

  • China, South Korea and Japan offer a myriad of unique and amazing cities. Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing are all impressive Chinese urban centres. Hong Kong especially is an amazing place to visit, a hub for transport, tourism, commerce, shipping and entertainment in Asia. In South Korea is Seoul, the capital and primary cruise port. Over in Japan, Land of the Rising Sun and cherry blossoms, extremely modern and urban cities jostle with farms and traditional fishermen. Port stops include Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagasaki, Kobe and Osaka.

  • Western Asia , below the vast stretches of inland China, comprises Myanmar, Bangladesh and India. Yangon in Myanmar has recently become more open to foreigners, and is a traditional Asian capital, free of skyscrapers and shopping malls. In India, there are plenty of ports which are bursting with colour, spice, and general Indian joie de vivre. Mumbai is the biggest of these, and Madras, Colombo and Goa are others.

Cruise Packages, Cheap Cruises, All Kinds of Cruises

There is plenty of choice when it comes to Asia cruises. The mainstream cruise lines Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Holland America and P&O Australia all run cruises to the region, and many now offer cruises from the big ports too, as it is the fastest-growing cruise market. Royal Caribbean and Princess are two of the big lines to commit fully to Asia, basing several ships there over years to come. The continent is also a favourite with boutique and expedition cruise lines- these can explore smaller ports where big ships cannot go. Silversea, Azamara Club and Seabourn all have a strong presence in Asia.

Asia cruise itineraries range hugely! Some are short round-trips, some long journeys up the coast from Sydney, some are in-depth cruises which take in only one or two countries, but do them well. Cruises combining China and Japan are common, and these often depart from or terminate at some of the big cities like Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Southeast Asia cruises often make their way up from the major South Pacific cruise hub of Sydney, or leave from Singapore. Trips between Singapore and Hong Kong are popular and a wonderful way to visit two incredible cities, with other stops along the way! India stops are often included in a World Cruise or long one-way itinerary between Asia and the Middle East. Smaller expedition lines however, do run India-focused voyages, often leaving from Mumbai.

Cruise Sale Finder has plenty of Asia cruise deal options which are easily searchable. Great prices and onboard credit deals make it the best place to book a cruise to Asia!
