Seabourn is cruising taken to the next level. All dining venues offer top-notch gourmet fare. Not only are the accommodations luxuriously appointed and serviced, they are all suites with ocean views. As on mainstream lines there are bars throughout the ship, but they are open bars pouring fine wines, beers and spirits at no extra charge. The service is intuitive and personalised, the entertainment sophisticated, the onboard lectures and seminars led by experts in their fields. Their beautiful ships are smaller than the usual and more intimate, offering destinations off the beaten track.
They are certainly expensive, and for good reason. A Seabourn cruise is the most wonderful way to travel we can imagine, and for most people a once-in-a-lifetime experience that might linger on the bucket list for a long time. However, there's no harm in dreaming. Here are a few more reasons that a holiday on the Seabourn Sojourn, Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Quest or soon-to-launch Seabourn Encore is a dream worth having.
World's Best Small-Ship Cruise Line
Travel + Leisure magazine has named Seabourn the world's "Best Small-ship Cruise Lin"e seven times since 2007, and Conde Nast has done so eight times since 2008, the latest of which was last year. The line has an International Six Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, has been named the "Best Culinary Cruise Line" several times by Saveur and has many accolades from Cruise Critic. The list of awards is a long one, and it stands testament to the line's commitment to quality and luxury.
Seabourn president Richard Meadows said of the line's most recent Travel + Leisure award, "Our focus is always on the guest experience. As a leader in ultra-luxury and innovation, it takes the expertise of all Seabourn's employees - on shore as well as at sea - to bring everything together and consistently deliver travel experiences that exceed our guests' expectations. This award is recognition of the extraordinary commitment, dedication and expert delivery of highly personalized vacation experiences that we deliver every day, and I would like to thank the readers of Travel + Leisure for honouring our entire team that makes this possible."
Seabourn brings history to life with UNESCO
The line has a partnership with photographer Geoff Steven, with the goal of capturing new images of the many UNESCO World Heritage sites that Seabourn ships visit during their travels. Steven is the director of the Our Place World Heritage Collection, and the teaming-up with the cruise line was announced during the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee.
The project will allow Steven to photograph the historically and environmentally significant sites from a uniques perspective during Seabourn's extensive itineraries, and will also benefit the line's passengers. He will share his unique experiences and knowledge as a World Heritage photographer, participating as a guest lecturer in the Seabourn Conversations enrichment program.
The partnership is a great way to not only capture, record and raise awareness of these stunningly beautiful places, but to spread the message about why they are so important to our heritage through Geoff Steven's expert testimony to the Seabourn passengers. "The sites on the UNESCO World Heritage list are some of the planet's most significant locations. They are also some of the most photogenic places that one could ever wish to visit" he said of the project. "Our Place is excited about the unique opportunity that Seabourn has given us to travel to these special places and use our photographs to spread the message about World Heritage to their guests and the wider public."
Have you ever let your imagination wander to wonder what a small-ship, all-inclusive journey would be like? You could see the incredible UNESCO sites in complete luxury with a Seabourn cruise.
