The Sea Princess is getting a makeover this November

The lovely Sea Princess has long been a staple of the Australian cruise scene, and will sail from Brisbane in the upcoming 2017-2018 summer season to provide Queenslanders with fabulous holidays on the South Pacific.

Before she begins her Brisbane dalliance, this Princess is getting a makeover. The season has all kinds of new and exciting things in store for cruisers!

Drydock schedule

The update of the Sea Princess is scheduled to enter drydock in late October 2017, and emerge on the 5th of November to head back Down Under. The refurbishment takes place in Singapore over 16 days.

Perhaps the most exciting outcome of the drydock will be the sweet, sweet sleep offered to Sea Princess passengers: the ship will be fitted out with Princess’s luxury beds in every cabin, these developed exclusively for the line by US sleep expert Dr Michael Breus. With two-inch pillow toppers, they are a comfortable haven for holidaymakers.

The Movies Under the Stars screen will be upgraded with a better image quality for easy movie viewing al fresco, the Cafe Corniche menu will be transformed for better Italian options, and the decor in the Wheelhouse Bar will be revised.

New and exciting features

Entertainment onboard is taking an exciting turn with the dry dock, as the musical “Encore” makes its debut in the theatre. It is directed and choreographed by world-renowned creative director Danny Teeson, and has already entranced Princess audiences on other vessels.

The ship will also become the venue for a fabulous Voice of the Ocean competition on each cruise, inspired by well-known The Voice TV show. For the little ones, the kids program venues and youth centres will be reimagined to deliver fun and educational activities in partnership with Discovery Channel.

The Sea Princess will cruise mostly from Brisbane until the end of April 2018, when she will embark on an extensive Hawaii, Tahiti and South Pacific cruise and then a Sydney departure World Cruise. Exciting things are in store for this ship! If you’d like to experience the upgrades for yourself, take a look at our Sea Princess cruise deals and get planning.

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!
