The Carnival Legend is really earning its name.

The Carnival Legend is really earning its name.

It won't come as a surprise to anyone that the average cruise ship racks up a good few nautical miles over the course of its lifespan, but some ships really go the extra mile when it comes to their globetrotting credentials. The Carnival Legend embarked on her maiden New Zealand sailing last week, not only visiting NZ for the first time but heading further south than any other Carnival ship has yet traveled. A stop at the world renowned Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park, a southern wonderland of glassy waters and lushly forested slopes, marked the southernmost point, adding extra significance to an already awe-inspiring place.

This southerly milestone is far from the only record that the pioneering Carnival Legend has racked up however. In 2013, this enterprising vessel ventured further north than any other ship in the Carnival Cruise Line fleet with a visit to Greenland (to this day, no other Carnival ship has broken this record), and to really put the cherry on top of it all, the Legend has visited more countries and continents than any of its Carnival fleetmates.

The Carnival Legend stands tall among its fleetmates

The Carnival Legend is also about to embark on another adventure, bringing exciting itineraries to an Australian city that has previously been a little neglected on the cruise front. In early 2018 the Carnival Legend will be based out of Melbourne, allowing Victorian cruise lovers to step aboard a cruise without having to first travel to Sydney or Brisbane. The destinations on offer include a handful of three-night short break cruises, a couple of longer trips across the Tasman and around New Zealand, a South Pacific jaunt and a four night Tasmanian itinerary.

If you're finding yourself tempted by the idea of a voyage aboard the globetrotting Carnival Legend, this is the perfect time to start planning your 2018 holiday. On the other hand, if you're not quite sure that Carnival Cruise Line is the right pick for you, take a quick peek at this fun guide which explores what the typical Carnival cruiser looks like.

Guests will never be at a loss for things to do aboard the Carnival Legend

Whether you're a Melburnian looking forward to some convenient cruising, a cruise rookie curious to find out about the experiences that this legendary vessel can offer, or simply a cruise lover keen to check out new Australian cruising opportunities, take quick glance over these upcoming Carnival Legend voyages - you might just find the adventure of a lifetime.

While I’m no cruise veteran, I do have a deep love for travel and fond memories of a certain Baltic cruise I went on many years ago… I think cruising is the ideal way to make sure there are no boring bits in your trip - why waste your holiday enduring arduous air journeys when you can cut through the waves in style and comfort?

Love the Carnival Ledgend, and wished it would cruise out of Brisbane as many Brisbane and Gold Coast and and other Queenslanders would prefer that, disappointed that now Melbourne is appointed another home port,it being so much closer to Sydney, which gets the lions share of cruises.????
