The next level in luxury cruising has returned to Australia for an unprecedented season of boutique voyaging. Azamara Club Cruises is back for its third year Down Under, with a season set to be bigger than ever. The Azamara Journey arrived in Sydney on Wednesday this week, at the end of an 18-night voyage that kicked off in Bali and touched on a number of destinations in western and southern Australia.
Over the summer, the Journey will be embarking on four different sailings, including Azamara’s first ever World Journey which departs Sydney in early March for a 102-night epic voyage. The cruise line’s inaugural world voyage will call in to 60 ports in 29 different countries, allowing guests 19 late nights in port and 13 overnight stays, before ending up in London. The Azamara Journey isn’t the cruise line’s only vessel to sail Australasian waters this year however. The Azamara Quest will be cruising around western Australia in December 2018 before ending up in Sydney for special new years celebrations. The Quest will then go on to make Azamara’s first turnaround in Melbourne in early 2019.
As if the chance to step aboard these boutique ships from Australia wasn’t enough, Azamara has introduced a fresh new entertainment program onboard the Azamara Journey and Quest. Announcing the new line-up, Larry Pimentel, President and CEO of Azamara Club Cruises said, “We look forward to providing guests with vibrant entertainment to enhance their experience while sailing with us. Our new entertainment launch will bring to life classic and short plays, along with short operas and shows, by using music, Broadway stars and entertainers that engage and enthrall audiences.”
54 Below at Sea features New York City’s premier cabaret club Feinstein’s/54 Below bringing a shining collection of Broadway’s amazing cabaret stars, instrumentalists and comedians to awe and entertain cruise guests. Among the featured entertainers is Bob Gaudio of Jersey Boys and David Kaplan, the acclaimed classical music performer.
City Theatre, one of Miami’s most famous and critically acclaimed acting troupes, will be delighting guests with ‘Shorts on Ships’, a line-up of short 10 minute plays which are simultaneously timely and timeless, engaging with both current issues and the mysteries of human nature.
Magic City Opera takes opera and puts a contemporary twist on it, presenting short opera vignettes which combine music, drama, visual and literary elements. Magic City Opera has a strong focus on opera as a tool to bring people together and start conversations, appealing even to those who wouldn’t usually consider a night out at the opera.
