Legend of the Seas Overview

Cruise with Legend of the Seas

Based in Australia for the summer seasons, the Legend of the Seas offers some amazing itineraries to cruisers Down Under. As the most-travelled ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet she certainly knows her way around the globe, and her excursions into the South Pacific and Asia spread the wanderlust to those who get onboard.

Refreshed and revitalised interiors

A massive drydock overhaul in 2013 has left the Legend looking legendary. Brought up to date with Royal Caribbean's favourite specialty dining venues, digital wayfinders, outdoor movies, bars and more, it is wonderful example of North American style on the Australian cruise market. Lots of glass used in the ship's design makes her light and airy and offers great views of the ocean.

Legend of the Seas' bars and restaurants

Let's face it: food and drink is a big part of any cruise. You certainly won't go hungry on the Legend of the Seas! There are three separate dining venues which come included in your cruise fare - the main Dining Room on decks four and five aft, the Windjammer Cafe which serves up buffet-style food for all meals, and the Park Cafe which was added during the ship's big refurbishment and offers some lighter fare to keep you feeling your best.

Specialty restaurants offer the discerning diner a gourmet dining experience for just a small cover charge. Royal Caribbean offers specialty dining packages which are good value for longer cruises. The Chef's Table is an intimate, multi-course dinner presented by the ship's head chefs and matched with wines. Other options include Chops Grille, the steakhouse, and Izumi which is a Japanese-inspired eatery.

Legend of the Seas' pools, entertainment and activities

With two pools, four whirlpools, a Fitness Center, rock climbing and more, there is plenty to keep you active on the Legend of the Seas. If you prefer more your holidays to be a little more sedentary (and who could blame you?), there's lots for you to do - you could spend a day at sea on a lounge chair, in the spa, or learning something new at a craft, cooking or language class.

The evenings can fill up easily thanks to a number of bars, a buzzing casino and the many delightful shows in the Main Theatre.

With kids programs to take care of the little ones and a Royal Babies and Tots Nursery for the very little ones, your Legend of the Seas cruise will be full of fun.

Legend of the Seas Itineraries and excursions: Something for everyone

Based in Brisbane, Australia over the southern summer season, the Legend offers plenty of amazing itineraries for cruisers Down Under. Destinations on her schedule include the South Pacific islands, New Zealand, Queensland and Asia with a few short sampler cruises thrown in for those who want to give her a try.

Royal Caribbean doesn't disappoint when it comes to Legend of the Seas' shore excursions. From a Crocodile Safari in Airlie Beach or a mangrove kayaking trip in Langkawi to cheese and wine tasting in Noumea or a relaxing harbour cruise in Akaroa, there is a shore tour to suit any taste.

Cabins on board Legend of the Seas

The Legend of the Seas' cabins are comfortable retreats after a day of fun and activity. The refurbishment in 2013 included all of the ship's staterooms, so they are updated and better than ever. Every room has a TV, telephone and hairdryer as well as the basics of bed, bathroom and plenty of storage space for your luggage. The four main categories of stateroom across the Royal Caribbean fleet are Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite/Deluxe.

Food and Dining

Entertainment

Those days at sea are about more than just getting to the next destination when you're aboard the Legend of the Seas.

Legend of the Seas pools and gym facilities
Cruisers who like to keep active can visit the state-of-the-art Fitness Center and even join a class. There is a rock-climbing wall, jogging track and mini-golf course. The Legend of the Seas also boasts two pool areas, one of which is part of the Adults-only Solarium retreat. The four whirlpools and the Vitality Spa are perfect for relaxing the muscles after a gym session or a day of walking in port.

Legend of the Seas Organised activities
Activities organised and run by the crew are a fun way to keep busy and to meet other cruisers. Venues like the Anchors Aweigh Lounge, the pool area and the Schooner Bar host events such as trivia, craft classes, language lessons, fruit carving, Wii competitions and more. A favourite game exclusive to Royal Caribbean and NCL is Quest, an adults-only scavenger hunt with a slightly risqué twist.

Legend of the Seas Kids' Programs
The kids will be kept entertained in the complimentary programmes for children and teens, and there is even a Royal Babies and Tots Nursery where babysitting for  youngins from 6 months to 3 years is available at a small charge of $8 per hour per child.

More fun of all kinds
The five-deck Centrum plays host to many different types of entertainment of which the most spectacular is the aerialist show. The Main Theater on Deck 4 has nightly performances which run the gamut from singers, comedians and game shows to broadway-style shows, and also shows the occasional recent release movie.

Bars are sprinkled throughout the ship for drinking, dancing and socializing, and the Casino Royale awaits those who like a flutter. The sophisticated R Bar was added during the refurbishment and has a menu of cocktails both classic and innovative.

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!
