Total length of cruise: 11 - nights

Set sail from Brisbane on your 11 night Papua New Guinea Cruise onboard the magnificent Sun Princess. Relax and enjoy your leisurely days on the sea as you cruise to:

Brisbane, Australia
Once considered the "country cousin" among Australian cities, Brisbane is today the nation's third-largest metropolis - and one of the most desirable places to live in the country. Lying on the banks of the meandering Brisbane River, this cosmopolitan city boasts elegant 19th-century sandstone buildings, a lively cultural scene and superb parklands. Brisbane is also your gateway to uniquely Australian adventures, be it the theme parks of the Gold Coast or Queensland's dazzling beaches.

Alotau, Papua New Guinea
Welcome to an undiscovered paradise of white-sand beaches, crystal waterfalls and volcanic mountains. And if you've come for history, you'll find that, too. This peaceful town was the site of fierce fighting during World War II. Today, it's a peaceful retreat offering the vacationer plenty of time to relax and connect with nature. Beyond the city you'll find a tropical rainforest full of birds of paradise, caves full of bats and a laid-back ease worth discovering.

Kitava, Papua New Guinea
Boasting pristine beauty and a touch of grandeur, the island of Kitava is a must-see while visiting Papua New Guinea. Located on the south-eastern tip of PNG, around 25 kilometres from Kiriwina Island, Kitava is also commonly referred to as the "Island of Love", making it an ideal honeymoon destination all year round.

Rabaul, Papua New Guinea
The former capital of New Britain has a history of destruction and resurrection - the city rebuilt after a massive 1937 volcanic eruption only to be destroyed by Allied bombing in World War II. In 1994, the eruption of Mt. Tavurvur dropped hot ash and rock on Rabaul, leading to its partial abandonment. Since that cataclysm, the city has slowly returned to life - hotels have resumed operating, the market continues to trade, and the harbor remains one of the most impressive in the entire Pacific basin.

Kiriwina Island
Gasp in wonder at huge, highly decorated yam houses, exquisite carvings and colourful clan ceremonies, and maybe even catch a game of cricket. Not traditional cricket - Trobriand cricket. There's no limit to the number of players; it can take days for your turn to bat; and there's much singing, dancing and whistle-blowing. You don't want to miss this!
The Trobriand Islands are some of the most culturally intact on Earth and traditions are so strong that locals believe a woman becomes pregnant when a child spirit chooses her and enters through her head.

Doini Island
Doini Island is one of P&O Cruises' most beautiful beach calls. When you've got an all but deserted island to yourself, boundless rainforest to explore, beautiful beaches and a whole underwater world just waiting for you, it's easy to feel a million miles away.
Oh, and there’s a local resort for when you feel peckish or want a cold drink. Deserted island meets resort mod cons? Amazing!
