Day 1. Arrive Bordeaux, Embark Ship
On arrival, transfer to your river ship, docked on the Garonne River. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Reception.

Day 2. Cadillac, Freedom of Choice
Founded in 1280, the walled village of Cadillac offers a wealth of historic treasures and sights. Join a guided discovery of Cadillac, before exploring the tiny medieval village of Saint-Macaire. Others may choose to visit Château de La Brède in Sauternes for a tour. This well-preserved castle was once the home of the great philosopher, Montesquieu. Afterwards, head to Château Smith Haut Lafitte for a tour which includes a tasting of Sauternes’ world-famous dessert wines. Return to your ship and enjoy a Gala Welcome Dinner back on board tonight.

Day 3. Pauillac
Take in the sights along the Gironde Estuary, which cuts through the rolling countryside and alongside the historic vineyards of Aquitaine. Disembark in Pauillac and travel through the famous Médoc wine region. On a visit to a family-owned cooperage, see how wooden wine barrels are made and learn the secrets of this time-honoured craft before a wine tasting in Ludon.

Day 4. Blaye, Freedom of Choice, Bourg
Step ashore to discover the town of Blaye, including a walk along its 17th century citadel, and World Heritage-listed fortress and tunnels. In the afternoon, perhaps journey to Cognac for a tour and a tasting at Château de Cognac, a French cognac house founded in 1795. Or, sail to the town of Bourg and discover the town centre, medieval ramparts and harbor on a tour.

Day 5. Libourne, Saint-Émilion
Alight in Libourne and travel to World Heritage-listed Saint-Émilion. Head beneath the village with a local guide to Cordeliers Cloister, where you’ll explore its remarkable network of cellars and tunnels that stretch for three kilometres under Saint-Émilion. The owners, Les Cordeliers, have been using these underground passages to make and age their exclusive sparkling wines since the 19th century. After a guided tour, enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and a selection of Saint-Émilion’s traditional macarons.

Day 6. Libourne, Freedom of Choice, Bordeaux
Today, perhaps join a guide for a tour of Bergerac to discover the charming Old Town, with its stone houses and tree-lined squares. Or, choose a guided tour of Libourne, during which you’ll visit a caviar estate for a tour and a tasting. Return to your ship for the Captain’s Farewell Dinner as you cruise to Bordeaux. On arrival, admire the city’s lights sparkling around you on an ‘illumination’ cruise.

Day 7. Bordeaux
Take in the sights of Bordeaux during a morning tour. Tonight, enjoy an evening of fine dining at Château Pape Clément and taste some of the Grand Cru Classé wines that have been produced from vines planted in the 13th century.

Day 8. Disembark Ship, Depart Bordeaux
Disembark your ship after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
