MSC Orchestra Overview

The MSC Orchestra set out on her maiden voyage in May 2007. Since then, this beautiful vessel from MSC has been charming holiday-makers around the world with her light and airy interiors, comfortable accommodation, delicious dining options and excellent entertainment offerings. Her sister vessel is the MSC Musica.

Specs: MSC Orchestra at a glance
Weighing 92,409 tonnes and measuring 964 feet in length, the MSC Orchestra is well designed to make the most of the space available. She can accommodate 2,550 passengers and 1,000 crew members. Her cruise speed is 23 knots.

Accommodation: MSC Orchestra rooms and suites
The MSC Orchestra is home to a total of 1,275 cabins across several accommodation categories, ranging from compact interiors (150 square feet) to comfortable suites (326 square feet).

Approximately 80 per cent of all the cabins have balconies, but there is a limited number of suites, so if you'd prefer this type of accommodation it's a good idea to get in quick!

All cabins come equipped with a flatscreen television, a safe, a mini-bar, a sofa, a desk and a private ensuite bathroom featuring basic toiletries.

The shore excursions available will of course depend on your chosen cruise, but you can expect a good variety to choose from, with popular examples including a dolphin encounter in the West Indies and a wine tour in Barcelona.

Things to remember: On board the MSC Orchestra
Here are a few tips for those planning a trip on board the MSC Orchestra:

  • Families with young children are more than welcome, with organised activities for those aged 3 to 13. Self-sufficient teenagers will find plenty to keep themselves entertained in the special Teen's Club.
  • The dress code is smart casual, with jeans, t-shirts and other casual clothing not acceptable after 6pm. There are usually at least one or two formal nights per sailing, so it's a good idea to pack some of your best clothes.
  • Daily gratuities are added to your onboard account and vary depending on the length of your sailing. Children enjoy a 50 per cent gratuity discount.

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!
