Day 1: Athens/Piraeus, Greece (Departure 12:00 PM the next day)
Piraeus is Greece's largest port and has been a gateway to the Mediterranean since 482 BC. It lies on the innermost point of the Saronic Gulf and is a short drive from Athens, the cradle of Western democracy and culture. Throughout the ages, Athens' lofty Acropolis has been a source of inspiration. The ancient ruins scattered throughout this legendary city are reminders of Greece's great cultural heritage.

Day 3:  Katakolon, Greece (Arrival 08:00 AM - Departure 17:00 PM)
While the Katakolon's main street is just a five-minute walk from the pier, you will probably want to venture farther out to see the ancient site of Olympia, the storied place where the Olympic Games originated in 776 BC. A look at the impressive monuments, including the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera and the famous stadium, along with a visit to the nearby Archaeological Museum, offers a fascinating introduction to the Games and ancient mythology.

Day 4: Sarande, Albania (Arrival 08:00 AM - Departure 17:00 PM)
One of the most popular spots on the Albanian Riviera, Sarande boasts an idyllic location on the Ionian Sea, just opposite the Greek island of Corfu. Its position near the Greek border also puts Sarande within reach of important archaeological sites. One is the ancient city of Buthrotum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also nearby are the ruins of the fortified city of Onchesmos, where excavations are unearthing the remains of dwellings, water cisterns and an early Christian basilica dating to the 5th century.

Day 6: Siracusa, Italy (Arrival 09:00 AM - Departure 18:00 PM)
Syracusa might be rightly characterized as an archaeological site rather than a city. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and tracing its roots back to its founding by the Greek Corinthians as far back as 734 BC, Syracuse ranks with Athens and Rome in influence and significance, and has the remains of antiquity to prove it. The old district of Ortigia, separated from the mainland by a narrow lane of seawater spanned by the Ponte Nuovo Bridge, is a marvelous maze of ancient streets and the heart of Greek, Byzantine and Judaic culture. Beyond town, rugged mountains and verdant fields host olive groves and ancient dwellings. With your visit to Syracusa, you will discover why Cicero proclaimed it “the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all.”

Day 7: Sorrento, Italy (Arrival 08:00 AM - Departure the next day 18:00 PM)
As your ship approaches the Sorrento Peninsula, delight in craggy cliffs draped with flowing pink blossoms. Renowned for its serene way of life, this romantic port exudes a special magic. Its dramatic bluffs and surrounding flowered hills bid travelers welcome to a town overflowing with charm and character. It is easy to relax in this languid southern Italian atmosphere.

Day 9: Rome/Civitavecchia, Italy (Arrival 07:00 AM the next day)
Civitavecchia was founded by Emperor Trajan in the 2nd century. Today this port is noted for its fine seafood and attractive monuments. Located 90 minutes away is the Eternal City of Rome. Steeped in 2,500 years of history, Rome was for many centuries the center of Western civilization. It was both the focal point of the Roman Empire and of Christendom. Landmarks such as the Colosseum, Forum, Pantheon, Vatican, Sistine Chapel and Spanish Steps are reminders of the legacy of its rich past.
