Celebrity Reflection Overview

Launched in 2012, the Celebrity Reflection cruise ship is a modern vessel with an impressive array of amenities and entertainment options. As the largest ship in Celebrity's Solstice Class, she outsizes her sister vessels in nearly every aspect. She has more cabins, more seating in the dining rooms, more loungers on the sundeck - the list goes on!

Guests can therefore expect a traditional Celebrity cruising experience with a few special touches. In keeping with her name, the Celebrity Reflection is definitely a place to see and be seen; she is the epitome of sophistication and offers passengers a wide variety of ways to enjoy a holiday at sea.

The Celebrity Reflection specs
This beautiful vessel measures 1,047 feet in length, weighs 126,000 tonnes and can accommodate a maximum of 3,046 passengers. Her cruise speed is 24 knots.

Inside the Celebrity Reflection
The decor on the Celebrity Reflection could be best described as 'understated elegance'. All of the public spaces, bars, lounges and restaurants are of contemporary, modern design, but what they really do best is complement the theme of each room. For example, the Martini Bar is almost all white, and this makes the colours of each cocktail really pop, while the Canyon Ranch SpaClub features soothing blue and white wall designs to create a relaxing atmosphere.

This ship also brings the best of life at land to the ocean. There are several beautiful green spaces which draw inspiration from nature, such as the Lawn Club, the Celestial Garden, the Persian Garden and the Hideaway. These areas are so well-designed, you could be forgiven for temporarily forgetting you're at sea.

Things to do on board the Celebrity Reflection
Guests can take their pick from a range of on-board activities, such as trivia games, art classes and public lectures. However, as on many cruise ships, the most popular activities tend to revolve around relaxation, whether you're by the pool, at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, reading a book at the Lawn Club or enjoying a meal at one of the many eateries.

Most of the ship's several bars and lounges offer different entertainment schedules each evening, so be sure to check the daily schedule for upcoming shows, performances, live music and organised games' nights.

The Celebrity Reflection also offers private sanctuaries for those who'd prefer to relax and unwind in their own company, or that of close friends and family.  At the Lawn Club, guests can reserve cabana-style tables for 2-4 people at The Alcoves, the perfect spot for a private picnic.

Celebrity Reflection restaurants and bars
As with many other cruise lines, Celebrity is taking care to include several healthy, light options on board as a great alternative to traditional grills and buffets. Guests will be pleased to note that more than 20 options at the main restaurant are 'SPE Certified', meaning they are publically recognised for their excellent nutritional value and wellbeing benefits. Another healthy alternative is Blu Restaurant, although guests must be staying in an AquaClass suite to have access to this eatery.

Those looking for more traditional cruise fare will not be disappointed - you can still treat yourself at the buffet, poolside grill, main dining room or one of the many specialty restaurants. And did we mention there's a Gelateria?

Come nightfall and there is live entertainment of some form to be found in most of the bars and lounges. There are also a few specialty venues that focus on particular beverages; Michael's Club is the place to go for excellent craft beers, while Molecular Bar makes the most of the latest technology to create exotic cocktails.

Celebrity Reflection itineraries and shore excursions
The Celebrity Reflection travels far and wide, but can most regularly be found exploring Europe or the Caribbean. The shore excursions available will of course depend on your chosen destination, but you can expect a wide variety of options to choose from, so you can tailor your time at land to suit your interests. Discover the ancient ruins in Mykonos, take a walking tour in Cartagena, or enjoy a night cruise in Istanbul; the choice is yours.

Cabins on board the Celebrity Reflection cruise ship

With a total of 1,532 cabins across 14 categories, the Celebrity Reflection definitely caters to both ends of the spectrum.

Let's start with the suites; Celebrity has two exciting new additions to its high-end accommodation. Both the Reflection Suite and the Signature Suite come with European-style butler service and a Reverie Dream Sleep System mattress that you can customise to suit your needs. But the real drawcard? The all-glass shower offers some of the best sea views on board - all from the privacy of your own room.

Another interesting accommodation option is the AquaClass cabin. This room is designed with relaxation and spa therapy in mind, kitted out with an aromatherapy diffuser and a luxurious five-head shower. Guests in this class enjoy free access to both the Relaxation Room and the Persian Garden, and can opt to eat in the Blu Restaurant.

At the other end of the spectrum are the ship's balcony, outdoor and interior cabins. These are all comfortable, affordable options and come with free tote bags, bath robes and toiletries.

Entertainment on board the Celebrity Reflection cruise ship

The Celebrity Reflection by day: activities, pools and more
Between the pools, the spa, the sports court and Celebrity's enrichment programme, you're spoilt for choice for daytime activities on board this vessel. Particular highlights include the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, which offers a range of enticing treatments, and the adults-only Solarium on deck 4, which is home to two hot tubs and an indoor pool.

Celebrity's enrichment programme offers courses on everything from cake-decorating to computers. The classes are fun, informative and an excellent way to learn new skills in a relaxed environment.

Speaking of classes, there are several group fitness options on board, including Zumba, cycling and yoga. If you prefer to exercise alone, head to the fitness centre (managed by Canyon Ranch), where you will find all of the latest gym equipment.

Celebrity Reflection nightlife
The Celebrity Reflection is abuzz with live music and entertainment in the evening. Depending on the schedule, you will likely find live performances in the Ensemble Lounge, the Sky Lounge, Celebrity Central, and of course the Reflection Theatre. The theatre is home to production shows, while Celebrity Central sometimes doubles as a cinema or bingo-hall.

As there is no late-night disco on board (this was replaced by a conference hall, which is available for hire for private parties), guests looking to bust out their dance moves are best advised to take their pick from the live music on offer each night.

If you'd prefer a more relaxing evening, head to the Lawn Club for 'Concerts on the Lawn', a particularly enjoyable option during the summer months. The helpful entertainment staff have plenty of wine, cheese and blankets on-hand to make your evening all the more enjoyable.

Other great spots for nightlife include the Martini Bar, the Sunset Bar, Cellar Masters and Fortune's Casino.

Celebrity Reflection for families
Families are more than welcome on board the Celebrity Reflection. There are activity programmes to suit all age groups, although please note that babies must be at least 6 months old for short cruises, and 12 months for longer sailings.

The activity programmes are organised by age; Shipmates (3-5 year olds), The Fun Factory (6 -11 year olds) and XClub (12-17 year olds). Your little ones will be in great hands at Shipmates, where staff entertain with activities such as arts and crafts, dancing and pizza parties. Meanwhile at The Fun Factory, games range from talent shows to scavenger hunts. At XClub, the teens have their very own coffee lounge and dance club, serving non-alcoholic beverages. Here activities include karaoke, team trivia and sports tournaments.

These activity programmes are open during the day, with breaks for meal times. In the evening in-cabin babysitters are available for approximately $19 per hour, although spaces are limited and there are some restrictions; no more than three children per babysitter and babies must be at least 12 months. Another alternative is group babysitting, available for children aged 3 to 11 from 10pm to 1am (a small fee applies).

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!
