Celebrity Infinity Overview

Celebrity Cruises has won the Travel Weekly award for best premium cruise line for seven years in a row, and with vessels such as the Celebrity Infinity cruise ship in the fleet, it's not hard to see why.

The Celebrity Infinity is one of four Millennium Class ships, a quadruplet of luxurious mid-size vessels. Celebrity Infinity was launched in 2001, but has since had a refurbishment in 2011 during which the ship saw new dining venues added similar to those on the company's Solstice Class ships, as well as a new computer lab, new cabins and redesigned cabins.

Celebrity Infinity specs

The Celebrity Infinity has a length of 965 feet, a draught of 26 feet and a beam of 105 feet. After the 2011 refurbishment, the ship now has space on board for 2,170 passengers, as well as 840 crew members. There are 11 decks in total, all of which comes to a total of 91,000 tonnage. The Celebrity Infinity has a maximum speed of 24 knots.

Celebrity Infinity itinerary and shore excursions

The Celebrity Infinity schedule includes stops at some of the world's most exotic locations. Pick up your Celebrity Infinity tickets for a ride to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, coastal pacific cities such as San Francisco, Vancouver, San Diego and Seattle. You can travel around South America to places such as Buenos Aires, Cape Horn, and Santiago. Your Celebrity Infinity excursions are just as diverse as the destinations, with activities to enjoy such as full day tours to inland waterfalls, wine tasting tours, and historical icon tours.

Inside Celebrity Infinity

The Millennium Class of ships are all known for their sophisticated elegance that is prevalent throughout each vessel. There is plenty of wood and glass on board, as well as delightful artworks to liven up the Celebrity Infinity interior. An indoor pool 'the Solarium' is the perfect example of this contemporary style, with grand wooden beams and wooden decking creating a warm and welcoming space to relax, no matter the weather.

You will also notice the high staff-to-passenger ratio, which helps ensure you'll receive the attention you need throughout the voyage.

Celebrity Infinity restaurants and bars

The Trellis Restaurant on board the Celebrity Infinity is a work of art itself with different meal options each night, including one evening on the cruise when the chefs serve up soups, salads, entrees and desserts from the hit show 'Top Chef'.

Luminae is a new addition to the Celebrity Cruises fleet. It offers bold flavours and a luxurious dining experience for three meals a day for all those staying in the Suite Class. The Celebrity Infinity food on offer at Blu bar is not to be beaten, with modern 'clean cuisine' available for Aqua Class guests for breakfast and dinner.

Qsine is the fleet's 'at-a-cost' restaurant, which is the place to be to try something new, including your meals with an iPad!

Of course, there are plenty of laid-back Celebrity Infinity bars and casual eateries to complement these luxurious dining experiences, such as the Bistro on Five café or World Class Bar for exquisite cocktails.

Cabins on board the Celebrity Infinity cruise ship

There are six classes of staterooms available on the Celebrity Infinity, with something for every style of traveller. All rooms offer 24 complimentary room service, a twice-daily service for makeup and turndown, amenities such as robes and hair dryers, flat screen TVs, safes and mini-bars.

The simplest are the Interior Staterooms, which don't have windows but are still incredibly luxurious, with two options for room sizes (170 or 240 square feet). Each one is beautifully appointed and has its own private bathroom, plus a small sitting area. The Ocean View Class is similar to that of the Interior Class, simply with a window so you can watch the world go by throughout the cruise.

For a Celebrity Infinity room with access to the outside, you can book your voyage in the Verandah Class. Each room comes with its own private balcony with a small table and chairs so you can sit outside to enjoy the view. These rooms also offer a range of sizes, including a family option with a very large verandah.

Those who book a stay in a Concierge Class room receive deluxe extras such as priority check in, a personalised concierge service, an upgraded room service menu, plush bathrobes and fresh fruit in the room. The Aqua Class rooms come with all of the features of the Concierge Class, as well as extras such as unlimited access to the AquaSpa, dining in the Blue restaurant, daily delivery of flavoured tea and more.

Celebrity Infinity suites are often more luxurious than many hotel rooms. There are four types of suite on offer: the Sky Suite, Celebrity Suite, Royal Suite and Penthouse Suite. Each of these is a large room, with extras such as a European-style butler service, access to private lounges, complimentary in-suite coffees from Café al Bacio, and more.

Entertainment on board the Celebrity Infinity

Celebrity Cruises categorises its activities into four groups; taste, learn, revive, and play.

In 'taste', you can learn about food and wine pairing, or even what makes a wine glass great. You can take a mixology class, or put your cooking skills to the test in a quick-fire challenge like those on TV show 'Top Chef'.

As part of the 'learn' set of activities, you can pick up some new dance moves, or discover more about the ship's environmental side and how it uses solar power to help drive the systems. You could also take an art class or attend a lecture, or enjoy a self-guided art tour about the ship.

In 'play', you'll make the most of the Celebrity Infinity pools with pool games and volleyball matches, you'll dance with the officers in 'Dancing with the Stripes', you'll play basketball, mini-golf, ping pong, lawn bowls, and more.

If you need to 'revive', simply try the ship's offerings of acupuncture, zumba fitness classes, gym and spa time and chiropractic sessions.

Of course, the Celebrity Infinity shows and live entertainment are not to be missed, and there's always the casino and bars to enjoy in the evenings!

Looking after the kids on the Celebrity Infinity

Please note that babies must be at least 6 months old before they can join in any cruise that's at sea for more than two days in a row. If the ship is crossing the Pacific or Atlantic, or if you are considering certain South American cruises, babies must be 12 months or older.

Private babysitting is available for up to three children at a time in your cabin. There are also plenty of kids' clubs on board to keep the young ones entertained. Toddler Time for the under 3s requires the presence of an adult, while the Fun Factory offers age appropriate groups from 9am to 10pm daily. For the teens aged 12-17, the X Club is also open daily.

Cribs on the Celebrity Infinity are provided if booked in advance, and high chairs are available on request. Diapers, formula and strollers are not provided, but you can request baby food with 30 days prior notice.

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!
