Can you believe that 2015 is more than half finished? The end of June marks the approximate halfway point, and that sailed by nearly four weeks ago. Before you know it, the shops will be putting up ridiculously premature Christmas decorations, the weather will get marginally better and 2016 will be looming on the horizon.
Now's the time to check in with your former self and evaluate your progress on those New Year's resolutions. What seemed like an excellent, life-enhancing idea (gym, anyone?) on the 1st of January might now seem like drudgery in the winter gloom, and something you really looked forward to doing this year might still be on your wishful to-do list as the year flashes past with no regard for human schedules.
Travelling is on Time Magazine's list of most commonly broken New Year's resolutions. It's something that we all intend to make time for, but when life gets busy it can be easier to put off your plans until the next year, and then the next. We know that our community of cruise lovers is always keen for their next adventure on the ocean blue - have you stuck to your travel-related resolutions this year?
Make it by the skin of your teeth
If you had resolved to get away on a cruise in 2015, you needn't give up hope. There's still time to book a last minute cruise and escape the cold, or take advantage of the seasonal fleets returning to Australia and take your pick from a wide range of itineraries on offer in late 2015.
Alternatively, go out with a bang and book a New Year's cruise. As long as you depart by the 31st it's still technically a fulfilment of your resolution, and you can tick it off your list. A cruise is the perfect way to see out the old year and ring in the new - just imagine how much more fantastic that celebratory champagne will taste when sipped overlooking a tropical island or the wide open ocean with the sun setting on the horizon.
You've already heard about why New Years Cruises are so fabulous for the evening itself - the accessibility of numerous bars with no queues or cover charges, a nearby cabin where you can freshen up, no need for a designated driver or taxi, and no cooking or dishes to mar the celebrations. However even if you don't want to party like it's 1999, a New Years cruise can be a great idea. It allows you to get out of the country, get some travelling and a lot of relaxing done, and start 2016 on a positive note.
Guess what? There are even gyms on most ships, so you could get a head start on your 2016 resolutions if you so choose. You could also lie by the pool with a pina colada. It's up to you. Keep an eye out for upcoming New Years cruise deals and get ready to tick travel off your list!
