Celebrate New Year in style, on an Australian cruise

New Year on an Aussie ship - Plan ahead for next year

If this New Year celebration was not quite up there on your list of "greatest celebrations ever", here is your chance to make sure next year is one to remember. Australians have plenty of New Year's cruises to choose from, with multiple lines and ships departing from ports around the country to cruise the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand and further afield. Here are a few great reasons to sail away for December 31st.

Party like it's 1999

A great night out is simple and easy when you're on a cruise ship. There is entertainment laid on for everyone, with all tastes catered for - quiet lounges, busy bars, clubs with dancing, theatre shows, casinos and so much more available on the main cruise lines. On Princess ships, NYE celebrations include a party with live music, confetti and champagne. P&O Australia celebrate on the top deck if the weather's good (and it normally is), while Royal Caribbean throw themed parties with favours and a ball dropping to mark midnight. Special menus are offered throughout Celebrity ships on New Year's Eve, while Crystal puts on a black tie optional gala.

Relax the morning after

One of the best things about celebrating New Year's Eve on a cruise? There's no cooking and no clean-up! Throwing a party at home will mean waking to a pile of dirty dishes and a messy house, but on a cruise ship you can breathe in the first day of 2016 with nothing to do but enjoy a good breakfast and relax by the pool or explore an exciting new destination. Don't let celebrations become a chore - have a fantastic night on a cruise ship where everything is looked after.

Sun and sand

December and January is the height of summer Down Under, so what better time to take a break from work and go cruising? The islands are warm at any time of year, but New Year is the perfect opportunity to head across the ditch and explore temperate New Zealand in the halcyon days of summer, or experience Australia at its sun-drenched best. New Year's cruises leave from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane with a range of destinations.

Get the New Year off to a good start

Come back relaxed and refreshed, ready for a new start. A cruise ship is the perfect way to relax and unwind. Meals are provided, there's no stressful travel and unpacking at each destination - just get on board, relax and disembark a new person. There is plenty to do if you want to keep busy, but doing as little as possible is a very valid option! Your resolutions can wait a few days.

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!
