The Pacific Dawn is on the list of top-reviewed ships, and it's no wonder - she's an Aussie favourite, especially beloved amongst Queensland cruisers thanks to her home base in Brisbane. Here's what one cruiser had to say about their trip to the Barrier Reef:
"First cruise ever and must say we absolutely loved it, it exceeded our expectations and the Dawn was fantastic, food great, staff were awesome and our room was perfect. Looking to book another cruise for next year or maybe one later this year...can't wait!"
The Dawn Princess is another Australian favourite, and of the Princess fleet is the most well-established Down Under, having cruised here since 2006. An excerpt from this review on one of her most common itineraries - to New Zealand - might give you a taste of what it's like to sail with this princess:
"We found our first cruise to be the most enjoyable and relaxing holiday we have ever had. The crew were very helpful and friendly, food was great. We enjoyed all the live shows. We thank the crew of the Dawn Princess & Princess Lines for giving us the best holiday we ever had..."
The Pacific Pearl is also at the top of our list, another vessel in the P&O Australia fleet. One reviewer described their time onboard the Pearl as:
"The perfect getaway for 2 sisters. We had a ball on board with no end of activities and entertainment to while away the hours between islands... This will not be the last cruise we take I am sure. The ideal situation of sailing along in a floating hotel with everything paid for and laid on to ensure we had the best time possible, with the opportunity to meet new people in a variety of situations."
As for the ship itself?
"Meals were always available with a wide selection of food to suit even the fussiest of eaters. Can't rate the crew highly enough. Attended to our every need, friendly but certainly not intrusive...The on board evening shows were of a terrific standard and we had no trouble getting a seat to enjoy the spectacle - as long as we timed our dinner perfectly! All in all probably the most perfect way to enjoy a relaxing holiday with everything at your fingertips in a luxurious and welcoming environment."
The Radiance of the Seas is a member of the innovative and action-packed Royal Caribbean fleet, and has some great reviews from happy cruisers - like this one by a mum who found the Radiance was perfect for a family holiday with her seven year old daughter:
"Everything was so easy for my daughter and myself. After all, it is difficult travelling with a child and transporting our luggage etc. When we got off the plane in Sydney, we jumped straight on the train and out only meters away from the ship which was amazing! My daughter looked out of the train and was incredibly excited to see this huge ship awaiting us. Off we went! What an adventure. My daughter loved trying mini golf, playing with other children, swimming in the pools, occasionally spending a short amount of time in the child care centre as well as eating soft serve ice creams in the buffet anytime (as mum allowed). I didn't have to worry about her getting lost as we spent some time over the first few days getting to know our way around. After 3-4 days all of the staff we regularly saw knew our names. I was comfortable enough to let my daughter leave my side for 20 minutes at a time, and know she would come back, or staff will point me in her direction. I felt very safe and comfortable."
The Celebrity Solstice is a premium vessel in the fabulous Celebrity Cruises fleet - unsurprisingly, it has been the recipient of some great reviews. Entitled "Sweet Soothing Solstice", one of them gives some detail on what makes it a great ship:
"It was a near perfect cruise, in fact if they just played some more upbeat music to appeal to a younger demographic, I would have rated this 11/10 perfect.
Entertainment was great in the Grand Solstice Theater, great musicals etc, the cruise director was the funniest cruise director I have ever experienced. He was great.
Cabin was superb. We had inside cabins on deck 7 and it was so modern and clean. The bathroom is better than the one I have at home. Deck 7 is in a great location.
Price was around the same as the other cruises, so this is great value for money cruise.
Food was once again 10/10. The buffet is the best buffet I have ever been to, either land or sea. The main dining room had a great atmosphere but I wished that the tables were a little more spread out...
Service went above and beyond. It was a family members birthday on the cruise and on his birthday in the main dining room the around 10 waiters including the matr'e D sang happy birthday and gave him a lovey personalized cake which was COMPLIMENTARY...
Celebrity Solstice #1."
The Oriana is a P&O UK vessel, and some of our customers have some nostalgic memories from decades past aboard this stately ship - we enjoyed reading this blast-from-the-past review:
"As teenagers, in a 4 bed cabin with parents, we travelled from Fremantle, Australia to Southampton, UK on the majestic Oriana in February 1999 (the dates on the review did not go back past 2009!). This ship was all class, very fancy with an older crowd who can afford such luxuries. We fit in much better with the crew who were our age and made our time really enjoyable."
