We wrote a few weeks ago about the Dawn Princess moving from the Princess fleet to P&O Australia
. More details have now been released, so we can add a few more tidbits of information for those interested in the changeover which will take place in early 2017.
With a complete makeover before entering the fleet, the Dawn Princess
will become the Pacific Explorer
. Her capacity of 2,000 passengers will be a very handy addition to the P&O Australia fleet
, allowing them to offer their laid-back and fun-loving style of cruising to more Aussies as she sails from Sydney for her first season. Another great addition will be the more than 400 balcony staterooms currently found on the Dawn Princess.
We have seen and heard
a lot about the features and spaces coming soon on the Pacific Aria
and Pacific Eden
- contemporary designs, lots of colour and fun spaces for eating, relaxing and being entertained. This will be replicated on a large scale aboard the Pacific Explorer, who will offer some of the features which have already begun to debut on the line: The Pantry food market-style eatery, Angelo's Italian and Dragon Lady specialty restaurants, and a freshened-up Waterfront Restaurant main dining room.
The ship will also have similar resort-style pool areas to the ones planned for the Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, bringing a more intimate and boutique feel to the outdoor spaces. The line has said that this bigger ship will take entertainment to a new level - so we can likely expect a few more announcements as the day grows closer.
Sture Myrmell, Senior Vice President at P&O Australia, said that a team was hard at work with designs for the future member of the fleet. "Just as we're preparing to welcome Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden next month, we're thrilled to have another ship on the horizon that will continue the exciting evolution of our modern Australian cruise product. We have grand plans for Pacific Explorer and we think her new features are going to cause a lot of excitement in the local industry."
We look forward to finding out more about the Pacific Explorer - and of course to her debut in 2017!
