Great news, Australian cruise lovers! The 2017/2018 cruising season will bring a little more variety to the scene, as fun and flexible Norwegian Cruise Line sends a ship to be based in Australia for the first time in many years.
A different kind of Jewel - NCL's first Australian season
The Norwegian Jewel is being redeployed to the Asia Pacific region, beginning with a repositioning voyage from Vancouver to Sydney in October 2017. The ship will then sail a range of itineraries from Sydney sure to please Aussie and Kiwi cruisers, with destinations including Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia, New Zealand, and a repositioning voyage to Singapore which stops in at some tropical Northern Queensland ports and Darwin before heading to Asia.
The cruises available for this inaugural Sydney season offer a good range of lengths, from a 5-day Tasmania jaunt to 16-day Australia and New Zealand itinerary. Local Australian cuisine, wine and beer will be on the menu during the Norwegian Jewel's time Down Under, and will also feature the homegrown Burn The Floor ballroom spectacular as part of the onboard entertainment.
The NCL difference Down Under
What can cruisers get excited about in regards to this news? There's plenty that sets Norwegian Cruise Lines apart.
Their style is fun, loud and colourful - this starts with the beautiful, bright designs painted on the hulls of each member of their fleet.
The onboard atmosphere is very casual, which we think Australian and Kiwi cruisers will love.
Multiple dining venues (and there are many), both included and specialty venues, mean lots of options for everyone. This extends to multiple bars, lounges and entertainment options.
The family friendly factor is high, and this includes interconnected cabins for more family accommodation choices.
NCL refers to their philosophy as "Freestyle Cruising" and it's all about doing things your way. If that appeals, keep an eye out for their offerings amongst our cruises from Australia!
