Although similar to the other two in the Royal Class, the Majestic Princess will have some major points of difference as the first vessel built specifically for Chinese cruisers. After the launch in summer 2017, she will be homeported in Shanghai and sail year-round from China to bring the Princess experience to that part of the world on a full-time basis.
Jan Swartz, President of Princess Cruises, said of the announcement: "Royal Princess and Regal Princess were named after iconic previous vessels, while Majestic Princess will carry a name that was chosen by our global employees. The name Majestic Princess is well suited to the Princess Cruises experience in China, and she will offer a truly magnificent experience to our Chinese guests."
Unique features of the China-based Majestic Princess will include a very international focus for the menus, festival-style entertainment, decor and fittings aimed at a Chinese passenger base and a Chinese name on her hull in addition to the English version: ????? (Shèng Shì G?ng Zh? Haò) which translates roughly to "Grand World" or "Grand Spirit", an interpretation selected by Carnival plc's China employees.
The ship will also offer the brand's exclusive Princess Class experience which is already in place on all Princess cruises in China. This is made up of enriching travel experiences such as the World Leaders Dinner and Traditional Afternoon Tea, a few special culinary highlights such as the ocean-view hot pot dinner option, and amazing duty-free shopping opportunities including leading designer brands.
The innovative special features which have been made popular on the Royal Princess and Regal Princess will also feature on the Majestic Princess. These include the dramatic multi-storey atrium, the glass-floored SeaWalk which extends eight metres over the side of the ship, the Princess Live! interactive studio, and more. Beloved and well-established Princess signatures like the Movies Under the Stars will also be found on the new ship, and accommodations will be built in configurations to appeal to families, including multi-generational groups.
More information about this unique new vessel will be released in the coming months, so keep an ear to the ground if you are interested in a China cruise adventure!
