Regal Princess gets a Love Boat christening
The most famous TV programme to be set on a ship, the Love Boat sailed onto American screens in 1977. Initially filmed on Pacific Princess, the show proved to be a massive success for the next 10 years with syndications around the world, including Australia and New Zealand. And it's still popular today. It's also the 50thanniversary for Princess Cruises in 2015, so the company is in full party mode.
TV stars take to the ocean wave
It promises to be one of the largest Love Boat reunions ever, with actress Tori Spelling the official Master of Ceremonies for the christening and red carpet host. Her father, the legendary Aaron Spelling, executive-produced the show. There will be interviews with a huge selection of celebs and stars, including Loni Anderson, Gavin Macleod, Pam Grier, Jack Jones, Frank Sinatra Jr, Diane Ladd and Charlene Tilton of Dallas fame. And Tori couldn't be more excited!
"The Love Boat is one of my favourite shows. And the fact I get the chance to be part of the cast and guest star reunion is thrilling."
Up close and personal with legends of the screen
Trying not to be too star-struck is Cruise Sale Finder Australia manager Kirsty Jensen. She will be onboard for the party to give you all the gossip and get some exclusive pictures. The dress theme is smart nautical attire!
Another major attraction is of course the Regal Princess ship itself. Hosting more than 3600 passengers, it entered service in May this year and will start its maiden season in the Caribbean. With stunning new features such as the multi-storey atrium, over-water SeaWalk, Night Sky Lounge and private dining experience at the Chef's Table Lumiere, it promises to be a huge success.
An extra-special birthday
The naming ceremony is just the beginning of celebrations for Princess' golden anniversary. Anyone sailing on their fleet of 18 ships during 2015 can look forward to some special treats. These include an exclusive Chocolate Journeys programme with chocolatier Norman Love and some amazing daily desserts and chocolate wine pairings and spa treatments. Unsurprisingly, there will also be Love Boat Deck parties and an extra special craft beer.
