Luxury small-ship cruising is coming to the Australasian market in a big way! Azamara Club Cruises are leaders in the field, and last summer they tested the waters by sending their Azamara Quest to sail a season of five lengthy cruises in and around Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. Now, the line is preparing for another visit in six months' time by the Azamara Journey, a mid-sized beauty set to undergo major refurbishments before making the trip south.
Azamara CEO paves the way
Larry Pimentel, president and CEO of Azamara Club Cruises, arrived recently in Australia to help make the final arrangements for the Azamara Journey's Australian debut in February 2017. The response to Azamara Quest's South Pacific season was positive, and the line is looking forward to another great sojourn in the region.
Pimentel commented: "Wherever in the world we sail, the Australian effect is unmistakable. Australia is one of our top three source markets worldwide, which is why it made sense to finally bring our unique style of small-ship, slow cruising down under last season. We were incredibly impressed with the response when we debuted Azamara Quest in Australia last summer so the time is absolutely right to bring sister ship Azamara Journey down under for the very first time."
New and improved Journey
Not only is Australia getting a new visitor, but she will be in tip top shape thanks to a USD$25 million refurbishment which she is set to undergo shortly before heading Down Under. Not only will new technologies and venues be added to the ship, but public spaces, suites and staterooms will all receive a revitalisation of decor and fittings.
"When Azamara Journey arrives, she'll be completely unlike the ship you saw last season. She will sail to Australian shores refreshed and renewed after a multi-million dollar revitalization that took place earlier this year." Pimentel said of what's to come.
Additions to the ship will include:
- An elegant redesign for the ultimate in modern luxury surroundings.
- Spa suites which offer exclusive spa amenities including an oceanview soaking tubs and are located adjacent to the Sanctum Spa.
- The Patio, a new al fresco poolside dining area.
- A casual and comfortable bar, dining and entertainment room called The Living Room.
- Faster and more pervasive WiFi.
These new features will be the icing on the cake for a ship which already offers a sumptuous cruise experience. Take a look at the Azamara Journey cruises from Australia available next year and start dreaming of a luxury getaway! If that's still somewhat of a pipe dream, Cruise Sale Finder has plenty of other cruises from Australia on offer in 2017.
