Long live the Queen
The Queen Mary 2 is the fastest and most magnificent ocean liner ever built, and as our exclusive footage shows, it's a cruise holiday option like no other. Cunard Cruise Week offers this superior standard of luxury to you at a phenomenal price.
Celebrating its 10th birthday in 2014, the QM2 lit up the Sydney skyline as it took a rest during another global adventure. It makes transatlantic crossings and worldwide trips throughout the year - you can even personalise your own voyage.
Cruisesalefinder.com.au enjoyed some private, one-on-one time with this truly majestic ship. Our intimate, behind the scenes coverage with no-one on-board helps to convey the true scale of this cruise travel colossus.
A taste of the traditional
The vessel is powered by four diesel generators and two gas turbines. It is the world's first four-pod propulsion system (Rolls-Royce). It measures 345m in length, with a height of 72m, the Queen Mary 2 is Cunard's pride and joy and three times the size of the Titanic. But it harks back to that more traditional era of sea travel - a five-star experience in more ways than one. Ten restaurants and cafes offer the likes of Chateaubriand, lobster and duck. Even American celebrity chef Todd English has his own namesake restaurant on-board.
The 17 decks are housed alongside 1300 state rooms. For those who wish to spend that bit extra, you can have your own private balcony and personal butler. It's a floating hotel like no other. And while the sheer scale of the Queen Mary 2 appears quite intimidating, you won't miss a thing. There is a Daily Programme newsletter for all passengers, to keep you up-to-date with all activities and events, and even a morning TV broadcast, with news and exclusive interviews with celebrity on-board speakers.
The great escape
Entertainment is, of course, a priority, with the Queens Room the biggest ballroom at sea. Cocktail receptions, gala balls and a dual-level nightclub offer variety and the opportunity to dance the night away, with the 3D movie theatre serving up the latest releases, coupled with retro-classics. Throw in a planetarium, fitness centre and hydrotherapy pool, and you can see why passengers are reluctant to disembark when the ship docks.
